- The products possess very low natural radioactivity - ~ 33 Bq/m3 (the radioactivity of similar products offered by our competition is ~ 134 Bq/m3). The increased level results from the use of non-ecological liquids and fly-ash. ZBC HADYKÓWKA uses wood shavings instead of fly-ash, making it possible to decrease the natural radioactivity. Why bricks from Hadykówka?

Some scientific proof:

Ceramic products have a positive impact on human health and are safe for the environment. But how do we check that? All construction materials can be characterised by a certain level of natural radioactivity (expressed in Becquerels per square metre - Bq/m3). The lower this level is, the better. ZCB Hadykówka products have natural radioactivity as well, but it is extremely low - 33 Bq/m3. By comparison, the natural radioactivity of our competition's products is on the level of 134 Bq/m3. Why the difference? This stems from the non-ecological nature of fly-ash, which possess higher levels of radioactivity. In ZCB, instead of the fly-ash, we use wood shavings – which have helped decrease the natural radioactivity to a minimal level. Although one cannot see this trait, it is essential for the user's safety.

Another important factor is the clarity of the deposit – Hadykówka bricks do not possess any marl or salt, only natural resources. Because of this, we can be sure that the beauty of your house is not spoiled by any flaws, and the walls themselves remain clean and dry for years to come.

High wall endurance – after all, a house has to be solid! This can be checked as well! If one wanted to crush a hollow brick from ZCB Hadykówka (even one of the lower endurance classes of 10mPa (megapascals), one would have to place 600 people, each weighing 100 kg, on top of it! Astounding, isn’t it?

Heat conductivity – one of the most important characteristics of building materials. The higher the heat resistance (measured by the lambda factor), the lower the heat lost to the outside. Again, we can provide proof. Hollow bricks from ZCB Hadykówka are created during the process of firing. The addition of wood shavings in the process of thermal treatment creates miniature air pores and this air is the best insulation material.
And finally, the most obvious trait – nice appearance – the beautiful, intense red colour of our hollow bricks and bricks ensures the unique character of the building. “And we all want our house to look good,"persuades Prof. Starakiewicz.

In February 2008, ZCB Hadykówka acquired the first ecological certificate in Poland. Vice-President of TüV Rheinland Polska, Marek Mucha, present at the ceremony, emphasised the value of the document:

"From now on, as a certifying unit, we take full responsibility for the products being 100% ecological," as stated on the certificate. The vice-president stressed that environmental protection activities are becoming a more and more significant issue. He also highlighted that in the modern world, an ecological certificate is of vital importance to companies that want to fulfil the highest standards of EU markets. “I sincerely congratulate ZCB Hadykówka on their superior product quality,” said Vice-President Marek Mucha. “I am sure that because of that same quality, and now because of the certificate as well, the purchase of ZCB Hadykówka products will be greatly more difficult - which we took as a good forecast.”

The secret of the bricks lies in the deposits we use. Mgr Stanisław Siwiec of the Department of Geotechnics and Hydraulic Engineering, Rzeszów University of Technology proved that it is nature itself which has created the best source for ceramic building material production. Here is part of a lecture given by Stanisław Siwiec.

It all started around 39 million years ago with the creation of the cavity of Podkarpacie - a huge pit which was filled with water from the Tethys Ocean. It is here where the fine-grained sediment, which settled in perfect proportions, is now used to produce ceramic materials. This is what the mineral composition is made up of:
37% of irlit loam
37% of ash
25% of sand

Those sediments gathered around six to 20 million years ago. Nowadays, in the area of Podkarpackie Voivodship, these loams may be found in the vicinity of Kolszbuszowa, Kupno, and Mielec. ZCB Hadykówka is lucky, however, that their loam does not possess any soluble salts, which when faced with humidity cause flaws to appear. Additionally, the deposits owned by Hadykówka are rich in iron compounds, resulting in a clear, beautiful red colour of the bricks.
